Cacao Cointreau Maple Old Fashioned

My husband Rich is a designer by day, and mixologist by night. We both enjoy the mad science of inventing new recipes. When we first met I had very little interest in Whiskey. However, in the recent several months I found myself more and more intrigued by old school cocktails with Whiskey. So, I challenged my husband with the request that he create a drink that is infused with chocolate, orange, and the all so decadent Luxardo Cherries. And yes, he delivered. This signature drink from Rich is immensely satisfying with a balance of spiciness from the Orange Bitters and sweet undertones.

Ingredients

  • 3 oz Rye Whiskey
  • 3 dashes Orange Bitters
  • 1/2 tsp Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Maple Syrup
  • 1 tsp Dark Creme De Cacao
  • 1 tsp Cointreau Orange Liqueur
  • 1 Orange Peel
  • 2 Luxardo Cherries

The Process

  • Add brown sugar, maple syrup, Creme de Cacao, Cointreau, and bitters to old fashioned cocktail glass. Stir with bar spoon until syrupy.
  • Add Rye and oversized ice cube. Stir with bar spoon until ingredients are chilled.
  • Garnish with orange peel and skewer of 2 Luxardo Cherries.
Stirring up the awesomeness…
I so love Luxardo Cherries…
